About Me

Well, my About This Site page gives you a pretty good idea of what my blog is about, but what about the person behind it?

As you will find out when reading through the various topics covered on my site, I have more than my fair share of experiences, good and bad! But I wanted this About page to be more light-hearted and include some things you may not have guessed about me. So here’s 15 things about me!

  • I studied Law and wanted to be a solicitor. It didn’t work out. But as with everything, there is a reason for that. I was meant for other things 😉
  • I am actually German, although I have lived in England since I was 7 years old.
  • I dream of emigrating to a hot country. I love the changing seasons but every year I feel the lack of sun draining me like a battery. My shine needs charging up!
  • This year (2015) is the year of the big 3-0. But this doesn’t scare me half as much as turning 25 did!
  • I am also getting married in July (5 days before I leave my 20s behind)
  • And then we go travelling for 3 months…
  • I don’t really like people. I dream of living in the middle of nowhere on a lake surrounded by nature and trees.
  • Change makes me anxious…
  • But not half as much as staying still does!
  • I wear my heart on my sleeve and get hurt often…but I wouldn’t have it any other way as its how I’ve met some of the most amazing people in my life.
  • My worst quality is that I sometimes react defensively when I feel hurt or criticised.
  • My best quality is that I admit when I’m wrong and to my faults (obviously…)
  • In my opinion the worst quality in someone is lying – we all make mistakes; only cowards have to lie.
  • The best quality is loyalty. Something I’ve learned is very hard to find!

And last but certainly not least….(drumroll please)

I am more excited about having kittens than I am about having children. I’d like both, but when my fiancé talks about getting me a kitten, I make this really high pitched screech of excitement that can only be heard by dogs, ironically. Don’t get me wrong, I can’t imagine my life without having a family someday. But I just really love cats…maybe it’s because I haven’t experienced the amazing journey of parenthood yet.

I promise it’s not as bad as this

  6. First, congratulations on your upcoming wedding. If you think life is challenging, wait until you tie the knot. Marriage is a wonderful institution and truly teaches people to communicate. Understanding eachothers’ needs and working to make your partner feel special is a key element. We have a tendency of complaining about “our needs” and “how we feel.” If each person in the marriage focuses on the partners’ needs, a happier, healthier marriage is more likely to result. I’ll get off my soap box of experience!

You express yourself very well and will likely help many people who view your story. Believe it or not, it is a common one. So many people feel isolated. I have found that most of these people are kind hearted and caring. I thought you might like the quote I used in my last blog which stated that “Everything you ever wanted is on the other side of Fear.” As people are willing to extend themselves over time, opportunities find their way back to us. Life becomes less intimidating and anxiety finds a way to leave the body. Becoming whole as a person creates an inner strength and a new wisdom. I’m sure you are on this path.

Wishing you and those you care about all the happiness and good health in the future. I look forward to viewing future blogs.

  7. I love cats too. I also don’t like liars. I am very sensitive when it comes to criticism. I can take things personally sometimes. I think my best quality is kindness. I think I am a very kind and caring person. I am also open and put myself out there and get hurt but what doesn’t kill us makes us stronger. I got you beat in the age department I turn 31 at the end of the month look forward to it. I’ll be having a nice gf chocolate cake. I like people but I kind of keep to myself. If you ever want to come visit come to the USA. In Boston where I live we have cold winters ahhhh you better try your luck in Florida or California. Well great post, nice learning more about you!

      • Hey Dani if you want to learn more about me I posted my first book ‘Curleymania’ on my latest wordpress blog. It’s from 2001 when I was seventeen writing up to my life at age sixteen being diagnosed Bipolar. I wouldn’t be writing you here if I didn’t write it so I consider it my best work. Take a peek but at 400 pgs you may want to spread it out over time.
